West Central Irrigation has three (3) setup crews ready and able to tackle your irrigation system installation no matter how big or small.

After a system has been designed, the components selected, and the equipment arrives, the setup crew checks and prepares it for deployment. The crew assembles the support structures attaching the pipes, sprinkler nozzles and the end guns.

Once the pipe and wire crew finish the basic assembly an electrician connects the power units and the crew completes assembly by connecting to the water source and powering up.

The crew tests out all of the components and makes sure everything is operating within specifications.

After everything is checked out, a WCI irrigation professional will instruct you on how to operate your new equipment.  We’ll go through all of the maintenance procedures with you to ensure your system does the job it was intended to do and stays in peak condition for a long operating life.

Step – by – Step

Phase One
  1. Select the irrigation system that is the best fit for your field and crops.
  2. Retrieve a picture of the target field from the Farm Service
  3. From the picture, we take the basic measurements of the field and determine how long a system can be and were the center should be located.
  4. We work with you and the well drillers to make sure there’s an adequate water supply.
  5. We then design a sprinkler chart for the new system. This chart dictates what size nozzles should go on each pipe and where on the pipe they should be located.  This is done to make sure that an even amount of water is put on the whole field.
  6. Then we place the equipment order with Valley.
  7. Valley arranges for delivery to the field location. This is usually within a few weeks from the order placement.
  8. The WCI setup crew meets the truck at the field.  The system is unload and the crew begins to layout the pipes in order.
  9. The WCI crew assembles the system one tower at a time and uses the  sprinkler chart to attach and position each nozzle and capping the pipe with an end gun.  This completes the first phase of the setup.
Phase Two
  1. WCI service technicians go out into the field to wire the machine.
  2. An electrician is called to connect the power source.
  3. The WCI crew starts the irrigation machine and makes sure everything is working properly.
  4. Most farmers are quite experienced with and know how irrigation systems work, but we are always delighted to show a new owner or the farmer’s field hands how the system works and how to best maintain the equipment.
